INTRODUCTION TO INSERV
Founded in 1985, INSERV is a training company that prepares people to live and work in intercultural environments. We offer programs for American expatriates and Foreign Nationals coming to this country, programs for business travelers (both American and Foreign), remote, global and matrix team programs, and Cultural Awareness Programs.
Regardless of the program type, our approach to intercultural training is to provide practical, relevant information that will be immediately useful to people in doing their jobs and adjusting to international realities. To that end, we customize all programs not only for specific locations, but also for the industry and specific job type (sales/marketing, supervisory or technical) of participants.
Because INSERV programs are job productivity-oriented, we include a thorough review of workplace issues, e.g. decision-making, conflict avoidance and resolution, motivation, performance feedback, attitudes toward power and authority, negotiating styles and techniques, risk and personal initiative, and the role of labor. Using the “Star Cultural Model™” we provide a way for participants to compare and contrast their personal, work-related behavioral attitudes and preferences with those in target countries.
Expatriate programs also include practical orientation to the community where participants will be living. This covers such issues as finding a place to live, getting and using telephones, money and banking, healthcare facilities, schools, the postal system, leisure activities, and shopping. Because the success of employees is dependent in large part on the adjustment of the family, we also offer programs for spouses and dependents.
Cultural Awareness Programs are also available for people who travel overseas or who routinely interact with people from foreign cultures. Leadership and Team programs have a cross-cultural overlay, can be culture-specific and always focus on workplace issues. Specifically, they are desiigned to:
